Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior Forced To Retake Coronavirus Test

Vinicius Junior was forced to miss Real Madrid training on Thursday as a precaution after having to retake a coronavirus test.

Footballers across Europe are continuing to undergo rigorous rounds of coronavirus testing following the sport’s resumption.

And on Thursday, Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane revealed that Vinicius was temporarily ruled out of his plans due to ‘errors’ during the latest round of testing.

There are no indications that the Brazilian teenager has contracted coronavirus but Madrid are waiting to find out whether he has been given the all clear after he was absent from training on Thursday as a precaution.

Ahead of Madrid’s clash with Alaves on Friday, the Frenchman told reporters: ‘It’s not negative or positive.

‘Sometimes there are errors. When that happens, both we and La Liga decide that the player can’t train.

‘We’ll see how it goes. He’ll have the results of the retaken test later this afternoon and I hope he’ll be with us tomorrow.’

Meanwhile, Madrid striker Luka Jovic has been forced to self-isolate after reportedly coming into contact with a friend who later tested positive for the virus.

Despite Jovic’s own test coming back negative, he has had no choice but to follow Spanish government’ guidelines and self-isolate.

And on Thursday, Zidane revealed that the Serbian striker will be back with the squad soon before claiming that he does have a future at the Bernabeu despite enduring a nightmare debut campaign.

Zidane added: ‘He’s not with us today. I hope he’ll be with us soon.

‘As a footballer, he is a very good footballer. He is a striker who scores many goals. It’s true that he hasn’t played much, but he is young and we’re counting on him for next season.

‘I know there is a lot of debate over the players, but we’ll see next year. This year he has had little things that have hurt him, but we’ll see.’
