Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes Will Share The Penalty-Taking Duties, Says Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes will share the penalty-taking duties at Manchester United.

Rashford has scored from the spot seven times this season while failing to convert on two occasions against Norwich City and Crystal Palace.

Fernandes, on the other hand, was successful with all three penalty attempts against Tottenham, Watford and Club Brugge while Rashford was sidelined with a back injury. The Portuguese star has also scored a further six times from the spot for Sporting Lisbon this season.

Rashford was handed the responsibility ahead of Fernandes against Bournemouth at the weekend and scored to claim his 20th goal of the season, but manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that both players will continue to take penalties.

‘It’s going to be a job they will share again,’ said Solskjaer. ‘It’s who feels confident there and then. You saw Bruno score against Tottenham. I think Marcus would take the next one against Tottenham but we got the VAR call that it wasn’t a penalty.

‘I’m very confident in both of them. No worries. They’ve got to make the decision out there and that’s just how we’ll leave it.’
