Access Bank CEO, Herbert Wigwe, and 5 Others Dies in Helicopter Crash

In what appears to be a tragic incident, Herbert Wigwe, the Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings Plc, is feared to have lost his life in a helicopter crash near the Nevada border in California, USA. Reports suggest that his wife and son were also onboard the helicopter. According to the New York Times, authorities have not located any survivors as of Saturday morning.

The Federal Aviation Administration has confirmed that the Eurocopter EC130 helicopter crashed around 10 p.m. local time near Nipton, Calif., an unincorporated community approximately 60 miles south of Las Vegas in eastern San Bernardino County. Details about the helicopter’s departure and destination remain unclear.

Efforts to obtain comments from Access Holdings have been unsuccessful, with the Head of Media Relations, Kunle Aderinokun, and other media team members not responding to calls or messages.

However, the Rivers State Government has confirmed the devastating news. Herbert Wigwe hails from Rivers State, and the state Commissioner for Information and Communications, Joseph Johnson, described the incident as shocking and a significant loss.

“His death is confirmed. It is a big loss to every sector, not just himself but also his wife and son. It is very painful,” Johnson expressed.
