‘I Have Not Received Royalties From GHAMRO For The Past Five Years’- Akesse Brempong.

Multiple award winning gospel artiste and song writer Akesse Brempong has revealed that he has not received royalties from the Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO) despite the fact that he is a registered member.

Not long ago, kwaw kese in an interview on Joy FM also made same complaints and added that since he started music he hasn’t received any royalties from the organisation. Hip life act musician Edem also complained of same issue. It looks like the issue of paying royalties to musicians by the organisation is getting intense as most musicians are trapped in the same soup.

Speaking in an interview on Starr Fm on Starr Drive, Akesse Brempong said:

‘I have not received royalties from GHAMRO for the past five years since I joined the agency and have since not received a dime.’

He urged everyone to embrace digital marketing to promote the works of local musicians and also stop other music platforms from using the works of Ghanaian musicians without permit.

He added that society will be able to track the activities of music lovers in and outside the country and believes that digital spaces including caller ring back tunes were one of the ways artistes in Ghana can make money out of their works.
