8 Killed, 27 Injured in Fatal Kintampo Road Crash

Eight people have been confirmed dead, with 27 others sustaining injuries following a devastating road accident at Tahiru Akura in the Kintampo North Municipality.

The crash occurred in the early hours of Friday, April 3, 2026, at approximately 3:00 a.m., involving a Benz cargo truck travelling towards Kumasi and a Hyundai bus en route to Widana in the Bawku area.

According to reports, the two vehicles collided head-on, leading to multiple casualties and leaving several passengers trapped in the wreckage.

Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service were swiftly dispatched to the scene, where they carried out rescue operations and extricated victims from the mangled vehicles.

The injured were transported to the Kintampo Government Hospital and are currently receiving medical treatment.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Kintampo North, Isaac Donkor, also visited the hospital to assess the situation and interact with survivors.

Meanwhile, the bodies of the deceased—including the driver of the Hyundai bus, Yusuf Abdul Nasiru—have been deposited at the Kintampo Municipal Hospital mortuary pending autopsy.

Authorities are expected to investigate the cause of the crash as concerns over road safety continue to mount across the country.
