In a traditional ceremony in the GaDangme community, a 12-year-old girl named Naa Okromo was married to the 63-year-old Gborbu Wulomo of Nungua, Nuumo Borketey Laweh Tsuru XXXIII.
According to a GaDangme news page, the young girl will now be known as Naa Ayemoede.
She is expected to undergo a second ceremony focused on purification to prepare her for her role as the wife of the Gborbu Wulomo, including bearing children.
This has caused a lot of reactions from people across Ghana. They claimed that it is child abuse and call for police intervention.
It has also been alleged that the parents of the little girl consented to the marriage.
