Twelve people have sustained critical injuries following a multiple-vehicle accident at Gomoa Amenfi on the Winneba–Mankessim stretch of the N1 Highway in the Central Region.
The accident, which occurred on Tuesday, February 4, 2026, involved a Toyota Voxy, a Nissan Altima, and a Hyundai Elantra.
According to information gathered by Citi News, the Toyota Voxy, with registration number GN 9883-25, collided head-on with a Nissan Altima, registered GW 1895-09, after the Voxy driver allegedly attempted a wrongful overtaking.
Moments after the initial collision, a Hyundai Elantra with registration number GR 1972-15 ran into the rear of the Toyota Voxy, compounding the severity of the crash.
All seven passengers on board the Toyota Voxy, including the driver, sustained life-threatening injuries. Four occupants of the Nissan Altima also suffered varying degrees of injury as a result of the impact.
Emergency personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service stationed at Apam responded swiftly to the incident and carried out rescue operations at the scene.
All 12 injured victims were transported to the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital, where they are currently receiving medical attention.
The accident caused a temporary disruption to traffic flow on the busy highway, with motorists advised to exercise caution while travelling along the stretch.
Investigations are expected to be conducted by the police to establish the full circumstances surrounding the crash.
