Yaw Obimpeh Wins Ashanti Regional Council of State Election

Former Ashanti Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Yaw Owusu Obimpeh, has secured victory in the Ashanti Regional Council of State election, winning with 49 votes.

The election results, announced on Monday, February 17, 2025, showed Obimpeh leading the race with a significant margin. His closest contender, Nkansah Boadu Nana Ayeboafo, received 35 votes, while Daniel Anarfi Yamoah managed only 1 vote. None of the other candidates received any votes.

Out of 86 expected votes, 85 valid votes were cast, with no rejected ballots. The results reflect strong support for Obimpeh among the electorate in the Ashanti Region.

His election follows the suspension of the initial voting process last week due to chaos that erupted during the proceedings.
