The lawyer for Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, has called for dialogue following the suspension of three radio stations owned by Wontumi Multimedia Company Limited.
The National Communications Authority (NCA) recently suspended 95.9 FM in Accra, 101.3 FM in Kumasi, and 101.3 FM in Takoradi over breaches of broadcasting regulations, including unauthorised use of Studio-to-Transmitter Link (STL) frequencies and operating from unapproved transmitter locations.
The move came after the expiration of a 30-day grace period granted by President John Dramani Mahama for defaulting stations to address regulatory violations.
Speaking on Eyewitness News on August 12, lawyer Mr. Appiah-Kubi stressed the need for engagement between Wontumi Multimedia and the NCA to resolve the matter.
“I think there’s a need for us to comply with the directive. Granted that the expectations were not met, there’s a need for us to engage, identify the shortfalls, and work to meet the requirements so we can return to normal operations,” he said.
