Wiyaala Clarifies Stance on Samini’s Event Flyer: Not a Publicity Stunt

Ghanaian Afro-pop star Noella Wiyaala, popularly known as Wiyaala, has addressed the recent controversy surrounding the promotional material for Samini’s upcoming event. The issue arose when Wiyaala noticed her image placed in what she considered a subordinate position on the flyer, expressing her dissatisfaction publicly.

Stating, “Honestly, I’m not pleased with this poster going around on social media. Put my picture in the right spot or I’m out. I’m not a backup artist,” Wiyaala voiced her concerns, even threatening to withdraw from the event if necessary actions weren’t taken.

In response to her outcry, Samini offered an unconditional apology, clarifying his unawareness of the artwork’s circulation. He expressed admiration for Wiyaala’s talent and emphasized that the image placement didn’t intend to undermine her status as a performer.

In an interview with Hitz FM’s Doreen Avio, Wiyaala clarified that her reaction wasn’t a ploy to generate hype for the event. She stated firmly, “First of all, it is not a strategy to hype the program. If I am going to hype a programme, I will do the right thing. I am not one of the artists who likes to be controversial, I don’t need that.”

Wiyaala emphasized that her intention wasn’t to instigate discord between camps or nations, asserting that she has always focused on her music and her ability to draw crowds at her shows.
