We Will Re-open Investigations into 2020 Election Killings – John Mahama

Former President John Dramani Mahama has pledged to reopen investigations into several unresolved electoral cases if elected in the 2024 general elections. Speaking at the launch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) manifesto in Winneba on Saturday, August 24, Mahama criticized the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) government for neglecting these cases and failing to compensate those affected.

Mahama specifically mentioned the 2020 election killings, the Ayawaso West Wuogon election violence, and the murders of investigative journalist Ahmed Hussein-Suale and Silas Wulochamey as key cases that would be revisited under his administration.

“We will reopen investigations into major unresolved cases, including the 2020 election killings, Ayawaso West Wuogon election violence, and the murder of Ahmed Hussein-Suale and Silas Wulochamey,” Mahama stated.

He further condemned the NPP for not addressing these incidents, stating, “All these cases occurred under this (NPP) administration which they have refused to investigate, and even when they refuse to implement the reports, they don’t pay any compensation to those who are affected. We will look at all that, and we will deal with it.”
