Chairman Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, is set to appear before the CID today, May 26, 2025, following an attempted arrest at his residence by a joint team of security operatives.
While the reason for the attempted arrest remains unclear, Wontumi has agreed to honor the police invitation, stating he has nothing to hide.
Showing solidarity, the Ashanti Regional NPP Communications Director, Paul Yandoh, announced that party executives and supporters will accompany Wontumi to Accra.
He described the move by security forces as politically motivated and called on party members to stand firm as the chairman complies with the CID’s request.
