The Vice President of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has rained the financial institutes in Ghana after buying waakye worth GH₵60.
Together with some government officials, Dr. Bawumia officially launched a Universal Quick Response (QR) Code.
According to the Vice President, Ghana is the first African country to introduce such a payment method.

The purpose of the QR code is to receive easy payment from bank accounts, MasterCards, E-zwich, etc instantly.
Dr. Bawumia tried the QR code to pay for a waakye worth of GH₵60, bought at AUNTY MUNI’s Waakye joint.

He expressed excitement after using the QR payment method code to purchase his waakye at Aunty Muni Waakye joint.
