The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has seized the mobile phone of an invigilator, Bright Amoah, at the Armed Forces Senior High Technical School in Accra.

The incident occurred on Monday, August 25, 2025, during WAEC’s monitoring exercise at the Burma Camp-based school, where candidates were sitting for their first major paper, Social Studies.

According to WAEC, the confiscated phone contained already-solved questions from the ongoing WASSCE. The material reportedly included content from the Oral English and Picture Making papers, which had already been written.

Although those papers had been completed, WAEC suspects possible foul play, prompting the seizure of the device.

The Examination Centre Supervisor has been directed to submit a report explaining how an invigilator came to possess a mobile phone in the examination hall, an act that contravenes WAEC’s regulations.
