Vinicius Junior shone for Real Madrid as they secured a draw against Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final clash.
The Brazilian capitalized on two mistakes from Bayern’s Kim Min-jae. Firstly, he outpaced the defender and slotted a shot past Manuel Neuer for the opener. Later, he converted a penalty after Kim fouled Rodrygo in the box.
England’s Harry Kane also scored from the spot, beating Andriy Lunin early in the second half after Jamal Musiala was brought down by Lucas Vazquez.
Leroy Sane then equalized with a powerful strike inside the near post, canceling out Vinicius’ opener.
Bayern dominated early on, with six shots and over 60% possession in the first 20 minutes, but found themselves behind against the run of play.
A decisive four-minute spell in the second half saw Bayern regain momentum, but they were unable to extend their lead despite putting Real under pressure.
Kim’s error, a shirt tug on Rodrygo in the 83rd minute, allowed Real back into the game. The result leaves the tie finely poised, with Real having the advantage of playing the second leg at the Bernabeu Stadium next Wednesday.
