Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has returned to Ghana after undergoing intensive medical treatment in the United Kingdom, following a short illness.
She first fell ill on Friday, March 28, 2025, and was admitted to the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) the next day. A statement from the Office of the President on March 30 confirmed her condition and announced that she would continue her recovery abroad.
Her return marks the end of her medical leave, and she is expected to resume official duties shortly.
President John Dramani Mahama, during his Thank You Tour in Dodowa on Friday, May 16, confirmed that the Vice President had made a full recovery. “I’m happy to state that I spoke to her yesterday morning, and she will be back in the country before the end of next week. By God’s grace, she is fully recovered and she’s going to come and go back to her duties,” he said.
Her return has been met with relief and well wishes from the public and government officials alike.
