Vice President Bawumia Promises to Challenge NDC Strongholds in 2024 Elections

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has pledged to challenge the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in their strongholds during the 2024 general elections. He believes he has a competitive advantage, especially in areas like Zongo communities and the Volta Region, which has made the NDC concerned about him becoming the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer. Dr. Bawumia expressed this during a campaign event in the Oti Region.

He mentioned that people in Zongo communities are open to voting for him if he becomes the NPP’s flagbearer, potentially causing the NDC to lose significantly in their strongholds in the North and Zongo areas. Additionally, he believes he can garner more votes for the NPP in the Volta Region, posing a challenge to the NDC in all of their traditional strongholds.

On the other hand, the Director of Conflict Resolution for the NDC, Abraham Amaliba, stated that his party is not concerned about Dr. Bawumia and would have been more worried if Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen had become the NPP’s flagbearer. Amaliba believes that campaigning against Bawumia would be easier than campaigning against Alan Kyerematen.
