Vice President Bawumia Launches Business and Employment Assistance Programme in Sunyani

In an ambitious move aimed at bolstering Ghana’s youth entrepreneurship and employment landscape, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia officially inaugurated the Government’s newest initiative, the Business and Employment Assistance Programme, during a ceremony held in Sunyani on Monday, December 11, 2023.

Dr. Bawumia, in a statement shared on his Facebook page, highlighted the program’s core objective: supporting 10,000 young Ghanaian-owned businesses by facilitating the employment of 20,000 youths, whose wages will be covered by the Youth Employment Agency (YEA). This initiative aims to not only sustain and nurture these enterprises but also create substantial employment opportunities for the country’s burgeoning youth population.

The program, driven by the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), signifies the government’s unwavering commitment to fostering an environment conducive to job creation and youth empowerment. Dr. Bawumia emphasized the significance of such interventions in complementing the government’s previous efforts, which have resulted in the creation of 2.1 million jobs over the past seven years across both public and private sectors.

The launch event in Sunyani witnessed a display of enthusiasm and optimism from attendees, showcasing a collective belief in the transformative potential of this program on both a microeconomic and sociopolitical scale.
