Valerie Owusu, sister of Ghanaian singer Itz Tiffany, and her husband, Emmanuel Addae, were convicted of murder by a Suffolk County Court in the U.S. for brutally beating their five-year-old son to death in 2021.

District Attorney Tierney stated, “This little boy was beaten and suffered for days at the hands of these defendants, one of whom was his own mother, until he unfortunately succumbed to his severe and extensive injuries.”

The horrific crime unfolded between March 30 and April 1, 2021, inside the couple’s apartment in Lefrak City, Queens, where Owusu and Addae used at least four different instruments to brutally beat their son, King.

The couple watched as King’s condition worsened over three days, but they did not seek medical help or call 911. Instead, on April 1, 2021, they took King to a family member’s home in Brentwood, where he was left to die.

The Suffolk County Police Department was alerted after the family member returned home and found King deceased. The medical examiner revealed that King had been beaten from head to toe, with injuries too numerous to count.

Owusu and Addae were convicted of Murder in the Second Degree, a Class A felony. They face a sentence ranging from 25 years to life in prison at their sentencing on May 1, 2024.
