The United States Embassy in Accra has announced the release of thousands of additional non-immigrant visa appointment slots as it works to meet increasing travel demand.

In a public notice, the Embassy said many of the newly opened appointment dates are available immediately, noting that the expansion is partly in response to heightened interest ahead of major global events, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup to be hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The Embassy reiterated that it continues to process non-immigrant visa applications and encouraged prospective travellers without valid US visas to begin their application process early.

Ghanaians planning to travel to the United States for the 2026 World Cup were particularly advised to avoid last-minute applications, as early preparation improves the chances of securing interview appointments and completing visa processing in time.

Applicants were also reminded to use only the official US visa appointment platform when applying, as part of measures to prevent fraud and the activities of unauthorised intermediaries.
