Ursula Owusu-Ekuful’s Office Burgled, Valuables Stolen

The office of Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, the outgoing Member of Parliament for the Ablekuma West Constituency, was reportedly ransacked on Monday, December 9, 2024. Unidentified assailants stole various items and caused extensive damage during the break-in.

The break-in occurred around 1:17 PM. Stolen items included cash, a branded Nissan Hardbody vehicle, a television set, a printer, two stabilizers, mobile phones, food supplies, and three new motorbikes. The intruders also vandalized CCTV cameras, barbed wire, and the office door.

Authorities have not confirmed whether the burglary is connected to election-related unrest. Similar incidents of violence, such as the burning of the Electoral Commission office in Damongo by angry youth protesting delays in announcing election results, have been reported.

The Ghana Police Service announced the arrest of 89 individuals for election-related offences, including vandalism, looting, and property destruction. Among these, 40 suspects face charges directly linked to acts of violence. The police assured the public that all suspects would be prosecuted, with court hearings set to commence soon.
