The University of Ghana Medical Centre Ltd (UGMC) has announced the successful execution of its first batch of six kidney transplant operations.
In a statement released on Sunday night, June 30, 2024, the medical centre revealed that the surgeries were carried out by a highly skilled and committed team of both local and international medical professionals.
“UGMC has successfully performed six kidney transplant surgeries with the highest levels of precision, care, and expertise,” the statement read.
Dr. Emmanuel Asante, Head of Urology at UGMC, noted that the procedures were executed flawlessly, highlighting the Centre’s proficiency in handling intricate surgical operations and post-operative care.
Dr. Kwame Anim Boamah, the Chief Executive Officer of UGMC, remarked that the successful completion of these initial transplants demonstrates the Centre’s dedication to advancing medical boundaries, achieving clinical excellence, and enhancing patient lives through state-of-the-art procedures and compassionate care.
