The deceased, Caleb Mensah, popularly known among colleagues as Paywa, was a BCom Finance student and an affiliate of Oguaa Hall.

According to accounts from fellow students, the incident occurred at the Norman Bu area on the UCC campus. Caleb had reportedly arrived at the examination hall but realised he had forgotten his student identification card, which is required before students are allowed to sit for examinations.
