Two officers of the Ghana Police Service have died following a tragic motor accident at Ofoase Ayirebi in the Akyemansa District.

The deceased officers, Isaac Anti, a Lance Corporal, and Allonyor Thomas, a Constable, were stationed at the Ofoase Divisional Command.

Reports indicate that the officers lost their lives after the motorcycle they were riding crashed into a stationary tricycle, locally known as an “aboboyaa.”

Sources say the officers were off duty at the time and were travelling from Ofoase to Ayirebi to buy food when the accident occurred.

Lance Corporal Anti died instantly at the scene due to the severity of the impact. Constable Thomas, who sustained serious injuries and heavy bleeding, was rushed to Brenase Health Centre for treatment but was later pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

According to sources, the owner of the tricycle fled the scene after realising the victims were police officers, reportedly fearing possible attacks from members of the community.

Police have since launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.

Meanwhile, the bodies of the deceased officers have been deposited at the morgue for autopsy and preservation.
