Two Perish in Premix Fuel Fire Incident at Ngyiresia

A tragic incident has hit the community of Ngyiresia near Sekondi, as two of the sixteen individuals injured in a fire outbreak have died from their injuries.

The fire occurred on Saturday, May 18, around 4 pm, and was caused by leaking premix fuel igniting from a nearby fish smoking facility.

Gabriel Ato Mensah, the Assembly Member for Ngyiresia-Mpasem, disclosed that the two deceased victims, 15-year-old Joseph Adom and 7-year-old Justice Dadzie, were receiving treatment at Effia-Nkwanta Hospital in Sekondi.

He further noted that two more injured individuals are being transferred to Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for additional care.

“We had 16 victims, with 11 males and five females. Thirteen of them were brought to Effia-Nkwanta for treatment, while three were taken to Saint Benedict Hospital in Inchaban. I personally escorted them to the hospital before joining the chief.

“When I returned, two victims, Joseph Adom (15) and Isaac Blankson (55), had been taken to the theatre. The remaining 11 were being treated in the emergency ward.

“This morning, we found that Joseph Adom had passed away. We went to the morgue to see his lifeless body. I’ve been here with the chief since morning, and around 3 pm, we lost another victim, 7-year-old Justice Dadzie.

“Currently, the ambulance has transferred one patient, Isaac Blankson, who was in the theatre on Saturday, to Korle-Bu. We are also preparing another ambulance for another patient to be taken to Korle-Bu for further treatment.”
