Two individuals have been discovered dead at the Tono riverbank in the Kasena-Nankana Municipality of the Upper East Region.
According to reports, the victims were riding a motorbike from Navrongo towards Chaina on the night of Thursday, February 20, when they lost control and plunged into the dam.
Their bodies were found the next morning by farmers who had arrived to irrigate their crops.
The police were alerted and transported the bodies to the Navrongo Hospital.
The deceased are believed to be residents of Chaina in the Chaina-Paga District who had visited Navrongo and were on their way home at the time of the incident.
Despite past efforts to enhance safety at the riverbank, including erecting barricades to prevent riders from passing through, many continue to ignore these restrictions, resulting in accidents.
