Two Electricians Arraigned Over Theft of Analgin Injections Worth GHC223,200

Two electricians, Stanley Smith Mensah, also known as Moni, and Daniel Nyarko, also known as Benzima, have been brought before an Adentan Circuit Court for their alleged involvement in the theft of 279 cartons of Analgin injections, valued at GHC223,200. The theft took place at Habmay Pharmacy Limited’s warehouse located in Lakeside Community 5, Tema.

The court, presided over by Angela Attachie, has also issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Ernest Abrah, a security guard at the warehouse, who failed to appear in court. Both Mensah and Nyarko, who face charges of conspiracy to commit a crime and stealing, have pleaded not guilty. They have been granted bail, each in the sum of GHC223,200, with two sureties to be justified with landed property.

Chief Inspector Maxwell Lanyo, leading the prosecution, informed the court that the theft occurred between September and October 2023. The warehouse manager, Collins Donkor, noticed the initial loss of 196 boxes of Analgin injections worth GHC156,800 during a stock check on September 11, 2023. A subsequent check on October 23, 2023, revealed that an additional 83 cartons, valued at GHC66,400, were also missing.

Following the discovery, the manager reviewed CCTV footage, which showed Abrah and a taxi driver, a witness in the case, transporting the stolen injections from the warehouse to an unknown location. The matter was reported to the Lakeside Police, leading to the arrest of Abrah on October 27, 2023. During his interrogation, Abrah implicated Mensah, Nyarko, and two others, Prince and Charles, who are currently at large. The stolen goods were allegedly sold to a sixth suspect, Ibrahim Sita, who is also on the run.
