Two Achimota School Alumni Killed in Hit-and-Run After Bonfire Night

Two former students of Achimota School, Davida Asante Boateng and Lilian Akorli, have died in a tragic hit-and-run incident on Friday, March 7, 2025.

The two young women had attended the annual bonfire night at their alma mater and were returning to the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) when they were struck by a vehicle while crossing the Achimota Highway.

According to an official statement from the Old Achimotan Association (OAA24), the vehicle involved was a black Toyota Corolla. The driver did not stop to offer assistance and fled the scene. Good Samaritans who arrived shortly after the accident rushed the victims to the hospital around 12:02 a.m.

Despite the efforts to save them, Davida Asante Boateng was pronounced dead at 4:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 8. Lilian Akorli, who fought for her life for several hours, also succumbed to her injuries later that morning.

The Old Achimotan Association expressed profound sorrow over the loss of the two young women. In a statement, the association extended its condolences to the bereaved families and pledged to support them through this difficult period.
