A commercial minibus (trotro) driver has been arrested after crashing his vehicle into a wall near the private residence of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in Nima, Accra.
The incident, which occurred on Wednesday evening, caused a stir in the neighborhood, drawing the attention of residents and security personnel stationed in the area.
According to eyewitnesses, the trotro, which was carrying passengers at the time, lost control and veered off the road before colliding forcefully with the wall adjacent to the former President’s residence. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, although the impact caused significant structural damage to the wall.
Security operatives quickly intervened and took the driver into custody for questioning. The cause of the crash is currently under investigation, with preliminary reports pointing to possible brake failure or reckless driving.
The Ghana Police Service has assured the public that a thorough investigation will be conducted to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash. Meanwhile, the damaged section of the wall has been cordoned off, and repairs are expected to begin shortly.
Authorities have urged commercial drivers to exercise caution and adhere strictly to traffic regulations, especially when operating in high-security areas.
