Investigative outfit Tiger Eye Private Investigations (PI) has rejected claims by former Ghana Football Association (GFA) president Kwesi Nyantakyi that the Number 12 exposé caused him irreparable harm, describing his recent remarks as misleading and a distortion of the facts.

In a statement responding to comments made by Mr Nyantakyi during an interview on Joy News’ AM Show, Tiger Eye PI said its founder, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, has never had a personal dispute with the former football administrator.

According to the investigative body, the criminal proceedings that followed the Number 12 investigation were strictly between the Republic of Ghana and Mr Nyantakyi, who faced charges including fraud, and not a personal matter involving Anas.

Tiger Eye PI stressed that it was inaccurate to portray the case as a feud between Anas and Mr Nyantakyi, insisting that the investigation was conducted in the public interest.

The group explained that Anas had agreed to testify as a prosecution witness after the death of Tiger Eye’s lead investigator, Ahmed Suale, who was allegedly threatened over the investigation before he was murdered in 2019.

However, Tiger Eye PI said Anas withdrew from testifying after a court ruling required him to appear without his trademark mask, arguing that this posed serious security risks, especially in light of the unresolved killing of Ahmed Suale.

The organisation said Anas’ willingness to testify was dependent on adequate safety guarantees, which were not provided.

Tiger Eye PI further clarified that the case against Mr Nyantakyi was discontinued by the Attorney-General and not dismissed based on its merits.

It added that international football authorities later found Mr Nyantakyi guilty of misconduct, resulting in a fine and a long-term ban from football administration, a decision the group said validated the findings of the Number 12 investigation.

The statement also noted that Mr Nyantakyi had previously filed a defamation and privacy lawsuit against Anas but later abandoned the case.

While acknowledging that the former GFA president may be attempting to rebuild his public image, Tiger Eye PI said it remains firmly committed to the findings of the Number 12 exposé and urged the public to disregard what it described as efforts to rewrite the historical record.
