Three Dead, 15 Injured in Ghastly Accident at Winneba Junction

A tragic accident at Tailer Junction near Winneba Junction in the Central Region on October 20, 2024, has claimed the lives of three people, leaving 15 others seriously injured.

The accident occurred when a Toyota Vitz with registration number GW 907-24 collided with a Toyota Hiace passenger vehicle (AW 78-22). According to Winneba Municipal Fire Service Commander D.O.2 Fredrick Adu-Poku, the driver of the Toyota Vitz attempted to overtake a tricycle but lost control, crashing into the oncoming O.A express passenger vehicle traveling from Accra to Obuasi.

Both vehicles veered off the road and plunged into a ditch, resulting in the death of one male and two females at the scene. The 15 injured passengers were rushed to Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital for urgent treatment.

Commander Adu-Poku urged drivers to exercise extra caution, especially as the festive season approaches, in order to prevent further road accidents.
