Black Stars midfielder Thomas Partey has denied five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault in a London court, with his trial scheduled to begin on November 2, 2026.
According to the UK’s Crown Prosecution Service, the 32-year-old faces two counts of rape involving one woman, three counts involving another, and a sexual assault charge linked to a third woman. The offences are alleged to have occurred between 2021 and 2022.
Partey entered his plea at Southwark Crown Court on Wednesday, September 17, just hours after featuring for Villarreal in their UEFA Champions League fixture against Tottenham Hotspur, where he was jeered by opposition fans. Villarreal lost the match 1-0.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed the first report was made in February 2022. Partey was formally charged earlier this year, shortly after leaving Arsenal at the end of his contract in June. He had previously appeared before Westminster Magistrates’ Court, where he was granted bail under strict conditions, including being barred from contacting the complainants.
His lawyer reiterated that the Ghanaian international “denies all charges” and is determined to clear his name.
Partey joined Villarreal on August 7, 2025, a move that initially drew protests from some of the club’s supporters. His plea hearing had been scheduled for September 2 at the Old Bailey but was postponed until Wednesday’s session.
