Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been confirmed as the parliamentary representative for Techiman South, following a court-mandated collation of results finalized at the Electoral Commission’s (EC) regional office in Accra.
Mensah Korsah secured 46,663 votes, surpassing his closest competitor, Christopher Bayere Basongti of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who garnered 43,429 votes.
This declaration follows a directive from the High Court in Accra, which ordered the EC to complete collation in several constituencies, including Techiman South, Okaikwei Central, Tema Central, and Ablekuma North, by January 6, 2025. The court’s order was issued in response to mandamus applications filed by NPP candidates to address delays and ensure transparency in the electoral process.
In a similar development, Charles Forson of the NPP was earlier confirmed the winner for Tema Central after a recount of two outstanding polling stations. These actions highlight the emphasis on accuracy and thoroughness in determining electoral outcomes.
Mensah Korsah’s victory solidifies his role as Techiman South’s parliamentary representative and reflects the judiciary’s critical role in upholding fairness and accountability in Ghana’s democratic process.
