Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana To Meet Over Unpaid Allowances

The Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG) has scheduled a gathering aimed at addressing the persistent issue of unpaid allowances owed to its members, spanning a period of four months.

The prolonged delay in disbursement, as outlined by the trainees, has significantly exacerbated their financial strain, notably affecting their ability to afford meals and procure essential teaching and learning materials.

Speaking with Citi News, the President of the association, Japheth Nana Kwame, highlighted the impending meeting as a pivotal platform to strategize on pressing the government to address their demands promptly.

Kwame emphasized, “The non-payment persists, leaving us uncertain about when the owed amount will be remitted. We remain in the dark regarding which months out of the owed four will be covered. With the academic year drawing to a close, it’s imperative that our students receive their due allowances without further delay, preventing any carryover into the next academic session.”

He further explained, “During our forthcoming meeting, we’ll deliberate on the course of action to be taken if substantial progress is not made this week. Our members are eager for resolution and deserve clarity on this matter.”

The TTAG’s gathering intends to formulate a decisive plan of action to compel the government’s attention and ensure the expedited payment of long-overdue allowances to mitigate the financial hardships faced by its members.
