The Supreme Court has unanimously rejected an injunction application filed by suspended Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo, aimed at stopping a presidential committee from probing petitions for her removal.
The application, submitted on May 21, 2025, sought to temporarily block the six-member committee set up by President John Mahama from continuing its investigations until a final ruling is made on the matter.
Justice Torkornoo had specifically asked the apex court to prevent Justices Gabriel Scott Pwamang and Samuel Kwame Adibu-Asiedu, along with committee members Daniel Yao Domelevo, Major Flora Bazuwaaruah Dalugo, and Professor James Sefah Dziasah, from taking part in the inquiry.
She also requested that Justices Pwamang and Adibu-Asiedu be disqualified from having any role in the proceedings.
However, in a unanimous decision delivered on May 28, the Supreme Court dismissed her request. The detailed judgment is expected to be published on June 12, 2025.
