Sudan national team head coach, James Kwesi Appiah, has reportedly refused to join the team’s 12-day training camp in Saudi Arabia due to unpaid salaries. The Falcons of Jediane are preparing for their crucial 2026 World Cup qualifiers later this month.
Appiah, who previously coached Ghana’s Black Stars, is demanding his outstanding entitlements before rejoining the squad. He recently returned to Ghana and declined a meeting with Sudan Football Association (FA) Vice President, Osama Atta Al-Mannan.
The Sudan FA is working to resolve the financial dispute, despite ongoing challenges. The national team currently leads Group B with 10 points from four matches and is set to face Senegal on March 18 and South Sudan on March 24 in the qualifiers.
As part of their preparations, Sudan has scheduled a friendly match against Jordan. The team will head to Libya on March 17, ahead of the qualifiers.
The situation has raised concerns about Sudan’s readiness for the upcoming matches, with fans hoping for a swift resolution to bring stability to the camp.
