Six teachers have been apprehended for their involvement in examination malpractice during the ongoing West African Senior Secondary Examination (WASSCE). The arrests were confirmed by John Kappi, Head of Public Affairs at the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), who revealed that the teachers were detained alongside numerous students from both public and private schools across the country during the first week of the exams.
Kappi stated, “So far, about six teachers have been taken into custody for various offenses.” He added that the exact number of students involved is still being compiled, and the figures will be released once the list is finalized.
The teachers were allegedly caught assisting candidates by writing answers for them and engaging in other forms of malpractice. Some of the reported infractions included bringing unauthorized materials into the examination halls. The authorities are continuing their investigations to address these issues and ensure the integrity of the examination process.
