Shatta Wale Has Cancelled his Freedom Wave Festival Citing Stonebwoy as the Cause

Shatta Wale recently made the decision to cancel his highly anticipated “Freedom Wave Concert,” originally slated to be held at the Accra Sports Stadium on the 25th of December this year. This decision stemmed from a series of events that unfolded in the lead-up to the festival.

The controversy arose when Shatta Wale unveiled his event flyer on the 7th of September, marking the dates of his festival as spanning from the 20th to the 25th of December. However, things took an unexpected turn when Stonebwoy, another prominent artist, posted his own event flyer on the 15th of September, designating the 22nd of December as the date for his concert at the same venue – the Accra Sports Stadium.

Shatta Wale expressed his frustration with this scheduling conflict during a Facebook Live session, directly addressing Stonebwoy for choosing a date that overlapped with his Freedom Wave Festival. He even went on to allege that the President’s daughter played a role in assisting Stonebwoy in securing the date for his Bhim Concert at the stadium, which added to his disappointment.

One of the key points Shatta Wale made was the logistical challenge of setting up his event, and he raised valid concerns about the National Sports Authority (NSA) granting the stadium to Stonebwoy without considering the necessary time for Shatta Wale to prepare and set up his festival infrastructure.

This situation has created a significant stir in the music industry and among fans, as it has led to the unfortunate cancellation of the Freedom Wave Festival that many were looking forward to attending during the festive season.
