Seven Killed in Tragic Accident on Accra-Kumasi Highway

Police in Suhum have launched an investigation into a tragic accident that claimed the lives of seven individuals on the Accra-Kumasi highway near Obretema.

The accident, which occurred around 4:30 am on Saturday, involved a VIP bus (GR 7632-24) traveling from Tamale to Accra and a fuel tanker (UE 9644-22).

According to reports, the tanker veered off its lane, colliding with the bus, causing both vehicles to somersault and land in a ditch. The crash resulted in the immediate death of five males and two females, who were traveling on the bus.

Personnel from the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana National Fire Service arrived at the scene to assist with the evacuation of the victims.

The bodies were later transported to Suhum Government Hospital, while the injured were also taken to the same facility for treatment.

Eyewitnesses provided accounts of the incident, and the police are urging the public to inform relatives of travelers on that route to assist with the identification of victims.

Traffic on the highway was managed with the help of passersby, and towing trucks were brought in to clear the mangled vehicles.
