Serwaa Amihere, a well-known media personality, has lodged a complaint against three individuals for sharing her intimate video without her consent. The accused individuals are identified as Edem Saviour Ketti, a 29-year-old filmmaker from Adjiringano, Acera; Candylove Kwakyewaa Ababio, a 31-year-old trader from Achimota Kingsby; and Henry Amponsah, also known as Henry Fitz, who is currently at large.
The complaint, filed on the 3rd of April 2024, alleges that the accused conspired to commit the crime of non-consensual sharing of intimate images, which is contrary to Section 23(1) of the Criminal Code, 1960 (Act 29), and Section 67(2) of the Cybersecurity Act 2020 (Act 1038).
According to the statement of offence, the accused intentionally distributed a prohibited visual recording of Serwaa Amihere on social media handles without her consent. This act is in violation of Section 67(1) of the Cybersecurity Act 2020 (Act 1038).
Furthermore, the complaint accuses the individuals of sexual extortion, as they allegedly threatened to distribute the prohibited visual recording unless Serwaa Amihere paid them a cash sum of GH₵5,000.00. This act is contrary to Section 66(1) of the Cybersecurity Act 2020 (Act 1038).
The case came to light when Serwaa Amihere’s makeup artist informed her that someone had demanded money with the pretext of having her nude pictures. The demand was made through an MTN mobile money account number registered in the name of Edem Saviour Ketti. Subsequently, another demand for a larger sum of Gh¢ 20,000.00 was made, and when the amount was not paid, the accused posted the video of Serwaa Amihere on social media handles.
Edem Saviour Ketti was arrested at his hideout in Dzorwulu, but Henry Amponsah, also known as Henry Fitz, remains at large. Investigations are ongoing to apprehend him.
