Sekondi Circuit Court Convicts Notorious 36-Year-Old Nigerian Armed Robber To 10-Year Prison Term

The Sekondi Circuit Court has sentenced a 36-year-old Nigerian national, Stanley Afaku, to 10 years in prison for armed robbery. The verdict was delivered on Monday, June 9, 2025, by Her Honour Naa Amerley Akowuah.

According to a statement from the Western Regional Police Command, Afaku was arrested after an intelligence-led operation conducted by the Police Intelligence Directorate. He was charged in connection with a robbery that occurred on February 23, 2025, at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi.

During the incident, Afaku and his accomplice, identified as Samuel Nickson (also known as Agya Acquah), reportedly attacked Nash Arthur, a security guard at the hospital, at gunpoint. The attackers tied the victim with his shirt, stole his phone, and broke into the hospital’s outpatient department pharmacy, from which they stole a flat-screen television.

Following weeks of investigation, Afaku was apprehended on June 4, 2025, at Esiama Bafana Ghetto. He confessed to the crime during interrogation and identified Nickson as his accomplice.

Both men were charged and brought before the court. Afaku pleaded guilty and received a 10-year prison sentence. He will be deported by the Ghana Immigration Service upon completion of his sentence.

Meanwhile, Samuel Nickson pleaded not guilty to the charges and has been remanded into police custody. He is expected to reappear in court on June 24, 2025, as the case against him proceeds.
