Savannah Region: Six Dead, Two Injured in Armed Attack on Chenchire Community

At least six people have been confirmed dead and two others seriously injured after an armed attack on the Chenchire community near Mandari in the Bole District of the Savannah Region.

The incident, which occurred on Thursday, August 28, 2025, forced terrified residents to flee into the bush, leaving the community deserted. Police say it took several hours before villagers felt safe enough to return and assist officers in locating the victims.

According to a statement from the Savannah Regional Police Headquarters, a team led by the Bole Divisional Commander, Chief Superintendent Alex Adjeivie, was dispatched to the area following reports of the assault at about 2:00 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers discovered six bodies scattered in different locations within the community. The deceased have been identified as 70-year-old Nyor Nyawile, 55-year-old Nyoropor Nanii Nuuro, 71-year-old Sachera, 80-year-old Namii Tsipor, and 29-year-old Kwabena Bogara.

Two others, 80-year-old Sansah Sinkpe and 43-year-old Sansah Boonie, sustained severe injuries and were rushed to the Bole District Hospital for treatment.

The bodies of the deceased have since been transported to the Damongo Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.

The Savannah Regional Police Command has launched investigations to determine the motive behind the attack and to identify the perpetrators. Authorities have also assured residents of enhanced security patrols to restore calm in the area.
