Private legal practitioner and politician Captain (Rtd) Nkrabea Effah Dartey has called for disciplinary action against Sammy Gyamfi over his controversial dollar gift to Nana Agradaa, suggesting it was a deliberate test of President John Mahama’s commitment to enforcing the new Code of Conduct for appointees.
Speaking on Adom FM, Dartey described Gyamfi’s action as “unwarranted” and said it undermines the president’s anti-corruption message. “Sammy Gyamfi wants to test whether the president is serious or not. If he goes unpunished, the code of conduct becomes a mere joke,” he stressed.
While acknowledging Gyamfi’s influence in the NDC, Dartey expressed doubt about whether Mahama would sanction him, warning that failure to act would damage the credibility of the new code.
The controversy stems from a viral video showing Gyamfi handing what Agradaa later claimed was $800 for fuel. Despite an apology and a summons by the Chief of Staff, public demands for accountability persist.
Effah Dartey emphasized that justice must prevail regardless of party loyalty. “No one is above discipline. If Gyamfi is not punished, the president’s credibility is on the line,” he added.
