Rev. Dr. Stephen Wengam Appointed Chair of Ghana Immigration Service Governing Council

Rev. Dr. Stephen Wengam, General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, has been appointed as Chairman of the newly inaugurated Governing Council of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS).

His appointment, made by President John Dramani Mahama, was officially confirmed during an inauguration ceremony held on June 26, 2025, at the Ministry of the Interior in Accra. The event was presided over by Interior Minister Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak.

The council is tasked with providing strategic direction and oversight for GIS operations, particularly in areas of border security, migration management, and supporting Ghana’s broader national development goals.
