The prosecution has amended charges against Daniel Owusu Koranteng, the prime suspect in the killing of investigative journalist Ahmed Suale, to include abetment to commit a crime, specifically murder.
This development was announced in court on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, during a hearing. Koranteng, who has been on remand since his arrest, was initially charged with murder when first arraigned on March 19. However, the prosecution has now revised the charges, reflecting new findings in the case.
Koranteng is accused of publicly sharing images of Ahmed Suale before his assassination in January 2019. He was also allegedly present at the crime scene at the time of the killing, raising suspicions about his involvement.
With the amended charges, the court has ordered that he remains in custody. The case has been adjourned to April 17, 2025, for further proceedings.
