The Vice Presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has donated $7,500 to cover the surgery costs of a three-year-old boy, Patnam Kantam, diagnosed with a hole in his heart. Additionally, she provided GHC 5,000 to support the boy’s family after the surgery.

Patnam, currently admitted to the National Cardiothoracic Centre at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, faced challenges as his family struggled to raise funds for his operation. Prof. Opoku-Agyemang stepped in to fully fund the surgical procedure and offer financial relief to his parents.

During a visit to the Centre to present the donation, she expressed her hope for the boy’s successful recovery and commended the medical staff for their professionalism and dedication.

“I feel privileged to provide the necessary support and deeply appreciate the care you extend to so many others in need,” she stated.

Dr. Kow Entsua-Mensah, Director of the National Cardiothoracic Centre, praised Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s compassion and personal involvement, noting the rarity of such gestures.

“Your presence here shows the deep love and concern you have for children in Ghana,” Dr. Entsua-Mensah remarked, assuring that the boy’s surgery would be scheduled promptly.

The boy’s father, Mr. Abdul Majeed Kantam, expressed heartfelt gratitude, praying for blessings upon Prof. Opoku-Agyemang for her timely intervention.
