President Mahama Orders Recall of Diplomatic and Service Passports Issued Under Previous Administration

President John Dramani Mahama has directed the immediate recall of all Diplomatic and Service Passports issued during the tenure of the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo administration. This move aims to bolster the integrity of Ghana’s official travel documents and streamline diplomatic engagements.

In a letter dated January 14, 2025, and addressed to the Chief Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Callistus Mahama, Secretary to the President, stated that the decision reflects the government’s commitment to adhering to national and international standards regarding the issuance and use of official travel documents.

Holders of Diplomatic and Service Passports have been instructed to return them to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by January 24, 2025. The ministry has been tasked with reviewing all returned passports to ensure compliance with updated eligibility criteria for issuance.
