The Office of the President has announced the dissolution of memberships for statutory boards, corporations, commissions, and councils following the assumption of office by President John Dramani Mahama on January 7, 2025.
This directive complies with the Presidential (Transition) Act, 2012 (Act 845), which mandates such actions after a change in administration.
- Scope: The directive applies to all individuals appointed by the former President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, or his ministers, to these entities.
- Independent Commissions: The dissolution does not affect commissions established as independent constitutional entities.
- Reconstitution: The affected boards, commissions, and councils will be reconstituted in alignment with their enabling laws in due course.
The Acting Spokesperson to the President, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, issued a notice confirming the directive. It also instructed the management of these entities to seek approval from the Chief of Staff before making further decisions until the boards are reconstituted.
President Mahama expressed appreciation to outgoing members for their dedication and service to the nation and extended his best wishes for their future endeavors.
