President Nana Akufo-Addo commended the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for its successful parliamentary primaries held in “orphan” constituencies over the weekend of Saturday, 2nd December 2023. In a message conveyed to the party members, he lauded the efforts of the National, Regional, Constituency, Electoral Area, and Polling Station Officers, highlighting the conduct of free, fair, transparent, and credible primaries as a testament to the party’s commitment to democratic values.
“This completes the penultimate stage of the Party’s preparations for the all-important contest of 7th December 2024,” President Akufo-Addo remarked, emphasizing the party’s dedication to upholding democratic principles that are intrinsic to the NPP’s traditions.
Acknowledging the nation’s challenges, the President reiterated the party’s ability, as demonstrated during its tenure, to drive progress and prosperity across all regions of Ghana. He urged the winners of the primaries to show magnanimity in their celebrations and called upon them to diligently engage those who were not successful. President Akufo-Addo stressed the importance of unity within the party, underlining that a cohesive front, led by the new presidential candidate, Alhajij Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, would fortify their stance heading into the critical 2024 elections.
“With the help of Almighty God, we aim to ‘Break the Eight,’ which is the fervent wish of all NPP members and well-meaning Ghanaians,” President Akufo-Addo declared, signifying the party’s aspirations for success in the upcoming elections.
The President’s message conveyed optimism and unity within the NPP, signaling their readiness and determination to secure victory in the 2024 elections under the leadership of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
