The Eastern South Regional Police Command has successfully restored calm at Boadua following a chieftaincy dispute that threatened peace in the community.
According to a press release issued by the Public Affairs Unit of the Ghana Police Service in Kibi on December 16, 2025, the dispute involved tensions that could have escalated at the centre of the Boadua community.
The police said that on Saturday, December 14, 2025, they received complaints from the Bretuo Abusua Panyin of Boadua alleging that a group of people from the Boadua Aduana Family had stormed the Boadua Chief’s Palace. The group reportedly caused damage to the main entrance of the palace and forcibly entered the premises, where they attempted to destroy the shrine in what police described as an effort to take over the palace from the Bretuo Family.
Upon receiving the complaints, police personnel swiftly moved to the scene and restored law and order at the palace, preventing the situation from deteriorating further.
In the course of operations, eight suspects were arrested to assist with investigations. They include Baffour Kwame Agyei Kwabena Twum, Baffour Kwame Annor, Baffour Kofi Dankwa, Maxwell Frimpong, Eric Dankwah, Nana Kwaku Frimpong, Baffour Kwasi Ampaabeng, and Baffour Yaw Anya.
The police disclosed that the suspects have been granted police enquiry bail and are scheduled to be arraigned before court on Thursday, December 18, 2025.
The Eastern South Regional Police Command has reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace and security and urged residents to remain calm and allow lawful processes to address the chieftaincy dispute.
